So I learned something tonight....
Opera makes less sense to me than ballet....
And that there's saying something.
That is all.

I've been working for Scenic Solutions lately, they're a local design and construction company who handles clients from around the country. Mainly they just need me for this huge project they're working on right now for a theatre in San Jose, California. Its been great though to actually get paid $10/hour just to work in a real shop and be involved in something theatrical again. I've also been doing the education program about every other week which is nice and I'm started to get over my loathing of children......a little. I'm just not looking forward to the 1st of November because that's when this truck for San Jose rolls out and I'm pretty much just left with a part-time gig in the First Frontier office, but it'll do for now.
Espcially since I met the coordinator for all the local stagehand union work around here and I've already worked a gig with them. I did the load in and out for Rascal Flatts the other day. Easiest money I ever made, and I got another gig for next week doing some other show. It's pretty cool and hopefully I can keep getting these throughout the year, making a $100 a day or so isn't bad and it could really help to supplement my less than amazing income potential.
Dan (the owner of Scenic Solutions) told me he's thinking about hiring on another carpenter or two for the couple of other projects they got coming up (there are only 3 or 4 full-time people at Scenic Solutions!) so if you all could keep me in your thoughts and wish me well for the next couple weeks that would be great because that would alleviate sooooo much pressure right now.
In other news, Tristan (the old TD from Blue Jacket) is maybe hooking me up with an Assisstant Props Designer gig with the local Equity house which would be cool, and he's getting a play together that he wants me and my roommates to work for $100/week which isn't bad. Its a retelling of A Christmas Carol, from a child who reads the story with the scenes going on behind him/her. Should be fun and it may help me to reestablish myself at this other theatre that we've kinda lost touch with over the past month or so, The Rising Phoenix, although Tristan wants to pretty much take it over completely, including a name change (Idle Eyes Theatre, anyone?!?!).
So yeah life is hectic as always, but hopefully it'll all turn out for the best and who knows if I can keep this shit rolling like this I might put off moving to Chicago or New York for another year..... I doubt it but you never know.
-Namaste

I think myself and the other six Benjamin Hailes should hold monthly meetings to speak about how we will change the world together!

So currently I am not exactly sober (please excuse any spelling or grammer errors therefore) but I must say that this is the second birthday in a row that I have celebrated completely single and honestly it sucks.
I don't know if its the whole libra thing (apparently Libras don't think they're worth much unless they're in a relationship) but I never feel more lonely than during my birhtday. Which is probably why I don't really celebrate it much.
Needless to say tonight I went out to two different bars. One, the Dublin Pub, where many of my friends were waiting and where I recieved the only birthday gift (not from my family) that I will probably recieve this year, which honestly was pretty fun. Then I went to Hammerjack's, a local bar where a friend of mine bartends. Now it was an amazing character study to watch countless guys get turned down from the one girl that I was really drawn to at the club, but needless to say I never approached her and am honestly glad that I did not, seeing as how I am rather drunk, but oddly enough still able to type coherently, and apparently spell rather well. Anyway, it was great fun watching guy after guy get shot down, but I realized that I had absoutely no chance with this beautiful woman either so I just stood idly by and watched, while getting a free beer or two from my friend who bartends. Anywho, this birthday wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst, well maybe close but not terrible.
Wish I was with you guys, all of you. The people who read this I love very dearly and miss extremely.
Hope you have a good one and hope I get to see you all soon (whether you're in Chicago, LA or anywhere else I'll find a way!)
G'night and good luck
PS Although I did get to see two fights broken up tonight, one of which ended in a guy getting carried out by two bouncers which was rather interesting.

and on that note....haven't updated in a while.... been working with First Frontier's Education program. We had our first Constitution program the other day, we did 5 shows. The shows are only 45 minutes but it was still pretty exhausting. Oh yeah we think that someone tried to break into our house the night before the shows too, at about 2 or 2:30 am. One of the side doors (which we never use) had the exterior door opened up (which was held in by a metal latch) and then the little alarms that C-nick put on the door went off three different times. Shawn and I woke up and the second we turned on a light of course it all stopped, but hey they didn't get anything and we know the alarms work now. Needless to say I only got a couple hours sleep that night.
Other than that just looking for a full-time job to hopefully get some benefits, and of course looking for a girl to for the same reason ;-). Yeah I'm preverse but you love me for it.
And can I just tell you that I'm soooo glad Facebook made my stalking soooo much easier?? Really what the fuck is up with that crap?
But I digress, we only have 2 weeks left of Sleepy Hallow and then I'm gonna have to do the whole audition thing around here somewhere, hopefully have better luck than down in Florida. I'll keep you all updated.

PS: I find it amazing that even drunk I will delete and correct all gramatical inaccuracies (probably excpet for that sentence)
This took me only about 3 minutes to write!! Yay ME!!!

I know that not that many people read this or actually will pay attention to this but this is a heartfelt plea....
This morning I recieved a call from Tracy the company manager at Blue Jacket and she informed me that the board of directors behind Blue Jacket have been meeting behind our backs for a while now and presented Tracy, Rob and Lorrie (the administration of Blue Jacket) with an ultimatum yesterday. They must raise $100,000 by the 22nd of this month or WE WILL BE CLOSED!!
This came as a shock to everyone and we're all still reeling but trying to get together every little last bit of money that we can to help keep this theatre alive.
And if you know anyone else who would possilby be willing to donate even a little it would be a great help.
This is a home to me and to lose this...... I don't even want to think about it, so please anything you can give will help.
If you are able to donate anything, be it $1 or be it $1,000, every little bit helps and because Blue Jacket is a non-for-profit every donation is 50% tax deductable. So please visit this website http://www.bluejacketdrama.com and pledge your donation through the number listed on the site. And don't worry, if we do close your pledge will get returned to you.
Thank you to all in advance, and please keep Blue Jacket in your thoughts for the next 2 weeks or so.

skeleton curling Originally uploaded by RealNearDead.
So I entered a contest in Worth1000.com for Hybrid sports. So I thought of two of the dumbest sports ever, curling and skeleton luge and they just kinda worked together. The edit kinda sucks I never got the light levels to equalize but I am pretty proud of the blue line reflection on the luge mask. Other than that just saying hey and counting down to Ohio.

Ok everyone I'm actually going to attempt to write this play that's been eating at my brain for a while now. It's entitled Ordinary and basically its a show to expose the apathy and selfishness introversion that our country has been going through. Basically why I'm writing this and the supposed "point" of the play within the play that I'm writing will hopefully be dramatized personal stories of people who are experienced everyday events that turn out to be extraordinary events, I know that's vague but that's how I like it. Pretty much this is going to be a collection of scenes (with a consistant through-line) with the cast and crew having everything go wrong and pointing out things such as, restrictions of civil rights, death, casualties of war, the scary, scary world of homosexuals in the world, basically any topic you can think of that should be pointed out in this show, please comment to me about those too.
I'll probably be working on this for a while since I want to incorporate all kinds of crazy stuff into this, but I'm hoping to create a show that is moving, confusing and actually brings alot of the apathy of this nation to light!
Thanks in advance.
Here's the intro so far ( here )
Its really rough but kinda, maybe clears up what I'm trying to say a litte, but probably not at all :-D

So not that it really matters, but Lex and I basically decided just to be friends for the next couple weeks, not that it matters since I can't even remember the last time we really kissed. So yeah, that's done with.
And oddly enough a (read: very cute) friend of mine is coming into Florida tom (and for those of you who know what I'm talking about its not Paullie-Phil that I am speaking of) and wants to and I quote "hang out ;-)" so I'll let you guys know what the winky face really means in a midwestern girl's mind in a bit. (not that any of you really probably want to know, but hey its my journal so I'll write what I damn well please :-P)
Otherwise insurance thing still isn't working out great, making a shit-ton of calls only to speak with a very select few and have most of them tell me they don't need insurance anymore. But eh, when I do sign a deal its usually a couple hundred bucks so hopefully cross your fingers for me and bring me some good karma.
GOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR BLUE JACKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just to be at a theatre again, much less at a theatre where I consider most of the people there like family, I think I'll really be back to my full self again. Not that I've been depressed lately or anything, just missing doing theatre. I never really knew the breadth of how much theatre runs in my veins, its like heroin for me. I MUST HAVE a theatre job for almost all if not all of next year or I think I might just go complelty insane from my addiction.
Hope all is well with everyone, and hey give a brother a call sometime (drunk dials preferred :-D)

So in a weird karmic twist, in regards to my last post. I got a phone call the other night from Tracy, one of the administratives from Blue Jacket telling me to call her because she had some amazing news. I finally got a hold of her tonight and she told me that she had gone over to Antioch college in Yellow Springs to check out the dorm rooms there. Antioch has very generously allowed us to stay in a dorm building over the summer for the duration of Blue Jacket which is saving us shit tons of money, and she said that they were really great, newly renovated and a lot bigger than what she was expected. Then she told me the real news.....
Apparently she was talking with the guy showing her around and telling him that First Frontier, the producing company that does Blue Jacket, wants to create a year-round theatre company. He just looks at her and says "wait, you guys need a space?" to which Tracy said "Badly." So he took her over to a 600-seat Proscenium arch theatre built in the '40s on campus and showed it to her and told her they didn't use it that much. He then calls the president of Antioch and the president tells Tracy that the theatre is usually bare about 95% of the time and that it could be completely at our disposal!!
So yeah First Frontier now has a THEATRE SPACE!!!!!
Granted it needs massive updates and probably needs the entire electric gutted and rewired, but that's small beans when you really think about it. I mean the "light board" that they have is one of the ancient hank pull models! But it could easily within a few months of hard work (which I am more than willing to put in, along with a couple people that I know) could be a full-fledged space for a year-round theatre.
Rob, another of the administrative folks has already been working on two differnt seasons to run concurrently. One very family-oriented and the other completely artistic and out there.
So yeah depending on how it goes I might be moving to Ohio to help establish this company which would be amazing experience for when I want to start my own.
